Oncology Care Teams
Comprehensive testing, ordered every time.
Oncologists, pathologists, nurses and navigators decide whether testing happens and whether results arrive in time. Small workflow changes close most of the gap.
The gap is in the workflow
Most patients with advanced lung cancer get some biomarker testing. Far fewer get every recommended biomarker, and many start treatment before results are back. In one 2026 study of 30 community oncology practices, 39% of patients were tested for all 13 recommended biomarkers, and 28% lacked results before first-line treatment.

For your practice
- Order comprehensive, guideline-recommended testing at diagnosis of advanced disease, not one marker at a time.
- Consider tissue and blood together when tissue is limited or results are needed quickly.
- Tell patients when results are expected and what they could change.
- Wait for results before first-line treatment when it’s clinically safe to do so.
- Refer for inherited genetic testing when results or history suggest it.
- Track turnaround, from order to result in the chart, and review misses as a team.
